These few daes i alwaes have a very nostalgic feel when i look down my windows. My secondary school, Naval Base Secondary School is undergoing a major construction.

The whole building is being tore down in place of a new building. I actually heard the news from a fellow classmate quite sometime back and i even told the gang (bestie, pingmei, carman, yyh) that we should revisit the school compound again before it becomes history…but too bad, we did not managed to do it.

Looking down the window, bit by bit the building gets demolished and bit by bit, memories came up. When they tore down the windows of the classroom where we had our home econs, i recall back we were alwaes afraid of going into the room at the back of the classroom. There were rumors of ghost there. I remember it was really kinda freaky there…and yes me being the timid me nv realli ventured to dat part of the room.

Then slowly the construction went over to the spiral staircase and the detention corner. I could even see the red little bridge outside the HOD office. The detention corner was my frequent place when i was in sec 4 i think….i used to alwaes skip USSR and turn up late for the flag raising so the latecomers were punished to walk run around the concourse area…we dun mind though cos we were chatting and fooling around.

The discipline master soon saw through our tricks and latecomers will now serve detention after class instead. I remember i owe quite a number of hours and never really paid back. Sec 4 must study O levels….dat was alwaes my excuse.

Last i saw, the hall was already halfway tore down.

I really miss the period when i was in Naval Base particularly sec 3-4. The days of not worrying about money, also no need to particularly study… my 1st first love was during dat period oso…. meeting in the morning at the park before walking to school…. hahaha

Breakfast sessions at 732 with CK, standing at 800 waiting for all to come out before going home, eating chicken rice at 807, doing nothing at Joanne’s house and organizing ice skating trips!!! Hahaha.

And my favorite principal is still Mr Lim Kuan Ming aka penguin wahahahah

I guess up til now my 26 years, these 4 years will be my most memorable years, and its where i came to know my bestie (i had my only quarrel with bestie in NBSS too!) and my group of frens whom we are still in contact.

Haha found the school song, and realised alot of teachers are still teaching in NBSS!

We are proud to belong to Naval Base School
We shall always cherish its name
It shall warm our hearts though we be far away
And shall stir our blood until our dying day

CHORUS:
Hooray hooray hooray, let’s yell
Three cheers for Naval Base School

Many a time in the past we were wrought with care
We had plunged to the depths of despair
Then the name of our school rang out loud and clear
And at once we rejoiced and lost all our fear

CHORUS:
Hooray hooray hooray, let’s yell
Three cheers for Naval Base School

Come what may to us in the days ahead
Be they willed with pleasure or pain
We’ll not flinch one bit under stress or strain
But we’ll face the future singing this refrain

FINAL CHORUS:
Stout hearts, brave deeds, great thoughts recall
Proud mem’ries of Naval Base School

Hope that the new building will bring new memories to other people as well.
